Abstract: "Many fundamental questions in biology investigate the growth and development of living organisms. Though there is immense diversity in the life forms, the basic mechanism of development is astonishingly the same. The vital genes involved are conserved across species indicating the intricate and precise manner of regulation of these genes. Dissecting the mechanism of gene regulation is of immense importance as it improves our understanding of the conserved yet diverse and flexible nature of the various developmental processes such as cellular differentiation and patterning. The molecular mechanism behind gene regulation was initially explained by the Central Dogma of Life (1) which explained how a gene through an intermediate RNA molecule, the messenger RNA, produces a functional protein that drives the cellular process."
