An open-framework cadmium selenite of the composition [CdCl2(HSeO3)2](enH2) has been obtained by a solution-mediated reaction. This compound crystallizes in a monoclinic unit cell with the space group P21/c (No. 14) and the lattice parameters a=8.2888(7) Å, b=7.8071(7) Å, c=9.9430(8) Å, β=112.444(2)°, V=594.69(9), Z=4. The selenite has a layered structure containing macroanionic sheets of [CdCl2(HSeO3)2]2−, with the protonated ethylenediamine (en) molecules in the interlamellar space. This cadmium selenite is the first few members of the new family of open-framework metal selenites. |
