Abstract: | Low-dimensional materials are of booming interest to both experimental as well as theoretical research [1]. Reduction of one or more spatial dimension(s) to nanometer range, makes these materials quite di erent in terM.S. of various properties compared to their bulk counterpart. Fundamentally, quantum con nement e ects are very prominent in these systeM.S. where the motion of electrons is strongly constrained along the reduced dimensions. E ect of electron-electron correlation becomes very much important and quite decisive for the properties of these classes of materials. As the system-size remains in the range of electron wave length here, understanding the emerging phenomena in these materials, eventually needs the concept of quantum mechanics. |
