Members of the various families of cuprate superconductors have been prepared by the combustion route. Cuprates prepared by this method are generally in fine particulate form and exhibit good superconducting characteristics. The effect of additives such as Ag, Bi2O3 and PbO on the microstructure and the superconducting properties of the cuprates prepared by the combustion route have been examined and the results compared with those of the corresponding samples prepared by the sol-gel route.en_US
