Abstract:
A new one-dimensional copper (II) phosphate, [C3N2H5][Cu(H2PO4)(2)Cl](H2O)-H-., I, with pseudo-10-membered channels along the b-axis formed by the hydrogen bonded chains, containing imidazolium ions has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound being the first example of an organically templated copper (II) phosphate, crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/n (No. 14) with a = 8.9998(14) Angstrom, b = 7.0189(11) Angstrom, c = 18.986(3) Angstrom; beta = 102.964(3)degrees; V = 1168.8(3) Angstrom(3); Z = 4. The copper chlorophosphate chains in I are topologically similar to those observed in fornacite and vauquelinite. (C) 2004 Elsevier SAS. All rights reserved
